According to reports from both BBC and Bulgarian Military sources, the F-16 may have been struck by Russia’s advanced S-400 air defense system, though some claim that the Russian R-37 air-to-air missile could have been involved as well. While the exact reason for the attack has not been officially confirmed, it has created significant unease among both supporters and critics of the involved nations.
Military forces of NATO along with the United States utilize the F-16 aircraft while Ukraine obtained these jets for strategic benefits during its conflict with Russia.
