Following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent visit to India, Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, has made a big statement regarding the friendship between the two countries. Alipov stated that Russia has never developed its relations with India at the expense of any other country. He asserted that President Putin’s visit was a milestone in the relationship between the two countries. Several new agreements were signed during the visit, covering areas such as economy, technology, and culture. Alipov described India as a very important economic and political partner.

In an interview with Russian media outlet Soloviev Live, Alipov said that India is rapidly progressing in the fields of space, technology, and artificial intelligence. He added that India is also making remarkable progress in the field of quantum technology. Alipov assured that Russia can clearly complement India in all these areas. “India is a very important economic and political partner for Russia.” The Russian ambassador further acknowledged that Moscow views India as a significant pole among the many poles of a multipolar world order and considers a strategic partner.

India-Russia cooperation is not against anyone: Putin

Earlier, during his visit to Delhi, Putin affirmed that India and Russia’s cooperation is not against any country, stating that its sole purpose is to protect the national interests of both countries. The Russian President made these remarks against the backdrop of the aggressive stance taken by the US towards both India and Russia regarding the trade deal. On India’s energy relations with Russia, Putin emphasised that some elements are trying to create “artificial obstacles” to limit India’s influence for political reasons.

Addressing the Western sanctions against Russia, Putin said that Moscow’s energy cooperation with India remains largely “unaffected.” Responding to a question about the aggressive stance of the United States, Putin said, “Despite some external pressures, neither I nor Prime Minister Modi have ever used our partnership to act against anyone.” He added, “US President Donald Trump has his own agenda, his own goals, while our focus is on ourselves and not against anyone, but our goal is to protect our respective interests, the interests of India and Russia.”

Putin also highlighted that India can no longer be treated the way it was several decades ago. He said, “PM Modi is not someone who easily succumbs to pressure and Indian people can certainly be proud of their leader. That is absolutely clear.”
