RRR actor Ram Charan reveals he does not want to do films he is ‘ashamed of after 10 years’

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan made his debut in 2007 with Chirutha and made it clear to one and all that he is here to stay. The action film became the highest-grossing Telugu film and Charan even won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor Male Debut. With his first success, one would think that the actor would give films one after another. However, it was only in 2009 that Ram Charan starred in a movie. Why? You may ask!

Well, the Telugu actor is quite selective about the films he works in and recently he revealed why. As it turns out, Ram Charan is particular about the roles he plays on the big screen. So far, he has managed to give iconic roles like Kala Bhairava in Magadheera, ACP Vijay Khanna in Zanjeer, Chelluboina Chitti in Rangasthalam and many more.

All these characters essayed by him have received only positive reviews from the critics and the audience alike. There is not a single role, played by Ram Charan, that has been bashed by his fans left, right and centre. This is ideally because he picks only films that have a sure shot at the box office.

In a recent interview, Ram revealed why he is so particular about his film selection. He said that he does not want to work in films that he is ashamed of 10 years down the line. Plus, he wants roles that challenge him as an actor.

“I look forward to characters that challenge me as an actor, and I want no film in my library which I’ll be ashamed of after 10 years. That’s my main idea behind being very selective,” the actor told Variety.

Ram Charan’s Filmography

During the same interview, Ram Charan also opened up about reuniting with SS Rajamouli for RRR after their blockbuster Magadheera in 2009. The period drama stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead role and Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is set to make her debut with this film.

Opening up about working with the Bahubhaali director, Ram Charan said: “Any actor on the set gets to learn a lot from him. It can be about the character, it can be about his work ethic, his dedication. It’s a lovely working experience.”

Apart from RRR, Ram Charan is also set to share the screen with his father Chiranjeevi in Acharya. The film is scheduled to release on February 04, 2022. He also has a yet-to-be-titled film with Ethiran director S.Shankar in the works.
