Ajinkya Naik, the president of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) made a surprising revelation that Rohit Sharma stopped Yashasvi Jaiswal from quitting Mumbai and changing his team to Goa in the domestic circuit. Earlier, it was reported that Jaiswal was leaving Mumbai and he even requested for a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

But months later, Jaiswal made this decision to stay and continue playing for Mumbai. Now MCA president gave an insight about Jaiswal’s decision to move and what stopped him.

“Rohit asked Yashasvi to stay on in Mumbai at this stage of his career. He explained to Yashasvi that there was a lot of pride and prestige in playing for a team like Mumbai, which has won the Ranji Trophy a record 42 times. Rohit also told Yashasvi that he must not forget that it was because of Mumbai cricket that he got a platform to show his talent and go on to play for India, and he must be grateful to the city for that. It was here in Mumbai that he started playing crick et on the maidans and then was picked for all the age group teams of Mumbai, Mumbai Cricket Association president Ajinkya Naik told Mumbai Mirror.

Ajinkya Naik even mentioned that Jaiswal had a conversation with other veteran players and decided to withdraw his NOC.

“After discussing this with Rohit and a few other stalwarts who represented India and Mumbai, Jaiswal sent an email to us requesting us to withdraw his NOC for a shift to Goa. We approved his request,” Naik added.

Jaiswal recently finished playing the five-match Test series against England, where he scored 411 runs with an average of 41.10 which included two magnificent centuries.
