Rohit Sharma Set To Retire From International Cricket After Sydney Test: Report

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has proved out to be a complete flop in the ongoing IND vs AUS 2024-25 Test series. The latter who was expected to score runs and lead from the front against Australia has completely let down the team management and the fans. Sharma has only managed to score 31 runs from five innings of the three Tests as of now and there are speculations that he will retire after the end of the ongoing Test series. Team India suffered a 184-run loss in the fourth Test played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and are currently trailing in the five-match series by a margin of 184 runs.

Will Rohit Sharma Retire From International Cricket After Sydney Test?

As per a report by Times of India, Rohit Sharma is expected to retire from international cricket after the end of the Sydney Test set to begin from January 3, 2025. The report states that the BCCI and the selectors are currently looking at his possible replacements. However, Rohit will probably try to convince the board and the selectors to let him play in the World Test Championship 2023-25 final if the Indian team reaches there. However, with India’s chances of reaching the final slim, Sydney can be his farewell international match.

With India traling the five-match series against Australia by a margin of 2-1, the Indian team needs to win the Sydney Test and would like Australia to lose their remaining two Test matches against Sri Lanka, if they wish to join South Africa in the final of the World Test Championship 2023-25.
