Rohit Sharma scripts history after reaching the Champions Trophy semifinals. He has become only the second captain to reach semifinals of his first World Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy after Australia’s Ricky Ponting. Rohit Sharma managed to lead his way through the finals in 2023 World Cup in which India had to face defeat in the Finals against Australia.

Rohit Sharma’s prowess in ICC Tournaments since February 2023

Rohit Sharma has been featured in 5 ICC events including the World Cup and Champions Trophy. He has been led the team in 29 matches and showed his leadership skills by winning 24 of them. He just lost 4 matches with being 1 match ending in no result. He has a win % of 85.71. He had an extremely successful ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. He became the second highest run scorer only after Virat Kohli. He scored 597 runs in 11 innings.

Rohit’s T20 Journey

Rohit Sharma has become the only Indian player to win two T20 World Cups. The first one was the 2007 World Cup when India beat Pakistan in the finals under MS Dhoni and the other one was 2024 edition as the captain. He is also the oldest captain to achieve this milestone and his T20 journey includes 5 centuries and 6 IPL Titles for the Mumbai Indians.

Ricky Ponting-The most successful captain

Australia’s Ricky Ponting has been featured as the leader for Aussies and led them to the semifinals in 2004 Champions Trophy against against England, 2003 World Cup against Sri Lanka and their 2007 T20 World Cup campaign against against India. He is regarded as the most successful captain in International cricket.
