Breaking his silence over the alleged attack and vandalisation at his official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that he is ready to die for his country.
Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hooliganism, the AAP convenor asked if the world’s largest and ruling party does such “goondagardi” in New Delhi, then what message will it send to the youth of the country?
“Arvind Kejriwal is not important but the nation is. I can lay down my life for the country,” the Delhi CM said.
‘Conspiracy to kill Arvind Kejriwal’
This statement from Kejriwal comes after members of the BJP youth wing led by BJP Yuva Morcha’s national president and MP Tejasvi Surya allegedly vandalised property outside the residence of Delhi CM during a protest on Wednesday for his remarks on ‘The Kashmir Files’ film.
Addressing a press conference after the incident, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged it was a “conspiracy to kill” Kejriwal as the saffron party is unable to defeat the AAP in elections.
The BJP accused AAP of scripting a drama and playing the victim card after the public anger against Kejriwal’s remarks mocking displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
‘Case has been registered against unidentified persons’
The Delhi Police said that a case has been registered against unidentified persons in connection with the incident.
Since the release of Vivek-Agnihotri directed ‘Kashmir Files’ the Opposition has accused the BJP for not doing enough to address the plight of Kashmiri Pandits.
Kejriwal had earlier said that the money earned from the business generation of the movie, should be used for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits and efforts should be made to bring them back home. He had also demanded release of the movie on YouTube so that everyone can watch it.
