RCB Director Gives Injury Update As Rajat Patidar’s Fitness In Spotlight

A major setback for RCB as its in-shape captain Rajat Patidar was forced to undergo injury. He picked up the injury as the team took the field in the previous game against CSK on the same day that the league temporarily halted play. The IPL 2025 is prepared to resume this Saturday, May 17, after being postponed due to tensions between India and Pakistan along its western borders. The high-octane clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium marks the league’s much-anticipated return to action.

RCB Director Gives Update On Rajat Patidar’s Injury

“Rajat’s going well. He had an injury to his hand, but he’s been building up ever so slowly. For him, probably the disruption (halting of IPL because of Indo-Pak border tension) gave a few more days to get through that early healing, for the swelling to go down, and for him to get used to picking up a bat again. He’s practised the last few days, and he’s going well,” Bobat stated during the pre-match press conference.

Rajat Patidar’s Performance In IPL

Patidar has shone recently by accumulating key runs in the middle order for Royal Challengers Bangalore during this year’s IPL. He has registered scores of 64 for the highest and 239 in total in 11 innings played. He has consistently faced the ball at a strike rate of 140.59, showing he can pick up runs quickly when the situation demands. He has made significant contributions to RCB, boasting an average of 23.90 and showcasing his resilience and batting prowess under pressure with two impressive half-centuries. Although he hasn’t yet notched up a hundred for RCB this year, Patidar remains a valuable player in the team’s batting order.
