Ranji Trophy: 1,3,4,4,11…Indian Batters Long-Awaited Comeback Ends In Nightmare

There were a lot of star Indian players who made a comeback in Ranji Trophy after years and one of the most awaited comeback was of Rohit Sharma. He was dismissed at the mere score of 3 as he played after 10 years. Other marquee Indian players like Rishabh Pant (1), Yashasvi Jaiswal (4), Shubman Gill (4) and Shreyas Iyer (10) were brutally thrashed.

To make space for Rohit and Jaiswal at the top of the order, Mumbai had to drop Ayush Mhatre, one of their standout performers in the season. Mhatre, in his debut year, had scored 408 runs from nine innings at an impressive average of 45.33, including two centuries. His exclusion, to make way for Rohit, raised eyebrows, especially given the latter’s current form struggles.

One thing that’s extremely concerning is that India’s batting lineup has been going through a very tough time and batters need ro regain their form ahead of Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to start from February 2025.
