Congress leader PC Sharma has registered a complaint with Bhopal Police demanding a probe into alleged irregularities in the land purchase by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra in Ayodhya.

Addressing the media, the Congress leader said that the saint of Nirmohi Akhara had alleged a scam of Rs 1,200 crore, and seers of Hanuman Garhi and Ram Lalla temples have demanded a probe.

“We demand Champat Rai and other scamsters should be booked under Sections 408, 420, 120B of IPC,” he added.

AAP, SP want probe by CBI, ED

On June 13, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and former minister in the Samajwadi government, Pawan Pandey, had accused Shriram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai of buying a piece of land worth Rs 2 crore at an inflated price of Rs 18.5 crore for the Ram temple premises with help from trust’s member Anil Mishra.

Calling it a case of money laundering, both the leaders sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate.

Sanjay Singh has also said he is preparing to move to the court in the matter.

All Shri Ram devotees are requested not to believe in any such propaganda: Champat Rai

Meanwhile, Champat Rai has strongly refuted the allegations saying the trust did not pay more than the going rate.

Issuing a statement, the temple trust said that people who made the allegation did not inquire about the facts from any official pilgrimage area before making the allegation.

“This has created confusion in the society. Therefore, all Shri Ram devotees are requested not to believe in any such propaganda so that the ongoing construction work of Shri Ram Janambhoomi temple is completed with transparency and without any hindrance,” the statement said.

After the controversy erupted on land purchase, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that it has hurt the people’s faith and demanded details of the money spent by the trust
