On the occasion of Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has announced that it will offer cashback to women travellers who will be travelling in the two Tejas Express trains operated by the state-owned company.

In a statement, issued recently, IRCTC said that on the occasion of the Raksha Bandhan festival women who will be travelling in the Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains will get a cashback of 5% on ticket fare till August 24.

Female travellers can travel multiple times availing this offer before August 24. Under this offer, the cashback amount will be credited to the same account from which the ticker was booked. Worth mentioning here is that women passengers who have already booked their tickets prior to the announcement but are travelling during the offer period will also be eligible to get the cashback.

IRCTC resumed services of both Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains from August 7 after they were cancelled four months ago due to the rising cases of Covid-19 during the second wave. These two Tejas Express trains are the first two trains to be operated by a private entity.

Both the Tejas Express trains operate four days a week–on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for now.

IRCTC last week reported a net profit of Rs 82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2021, as compared to a net loss of Rs 24 crore in the same period year ago. It had posted a profit of Rs 103 crore in the March quarter this fiscal. The company reported revenue from operations at Rs 243 crore, up by 85.4% from Rs 131 crore reported in the same quarter last year. The company also announced a 1:5 stock split.
