Rajasthan Royals Headed Towards Big Changes, Six Players On Trade Radar Ahead Of IPL 2026

Rajasthan Royals may be on the cusp of a major roster shakeup ahead of the 2026 IPL season, with reports indicating several franchises have shown interest in trading for six or more of their players. Although the Royals have not so far announced any names, speculation remains rife over their skipper and long-time player of importance, Sanju Samson.

“There have been multiple approaches by multiple franchises for about six of our players. Similarly, we have reached out to other teams for possible options,” a team insider told PTI. “The principle is simple: every team is open to moves that can strengthen their squad — Rajasthan Royals are no different.”

Sanju Samson’s Future In The Limelight

Samson, who joined RR in 2013 and has been captaining the side in recent years, is a key target if the franchise is open to going for him through a trade. The Royals have reportedly started early talks with other franchises, indicating the beginning of planning for next year’s big auction. With Samson possibly on the move, his availability might trigger bidding interest from franchises such as Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK, specifically, are geared up for post-MS Dhoni life, while KKR could seek to improve their wicketkeeping arsenal.

Jurel’s Emergence And Leadership Issues

Dhruv Jurel’s quick emergence as a reliable batter and wicketkeeper provides RR with an instant replacement if Samson leaves. From an internal perspective, his emergence becomes particularly priceless.

Meanwhile, leadership possibilities are on the table. Riyan Parag, who had a temporary stint as RR captain last season is being contemplated as a replacement. Though there were some doubts initially, his strong local allegiance to Assam and the growing franchise emphasis on Guwahati may tip the scales.

With the trade window available till a week before the 2026 auction, more surprises and transactions may lie ahead for the Jaipur-based franchise.
