Rahul Vaidya on guests asked to praise contestants on Indian Idol: Don’t know why people are making a big fuss

While Indian Idol earlier was a show that was limited to just singing and entertainment, this season was in the limelight for an array of reasons. While the show successfully managed to remain on top of the game with its ever-increasing TRP’s, it received flak for rumours of how guests on the show were asked to only praise the contestants.

Host of Indian Idol 12 Aditya Narayan had his own way of taking a dig at the trolls, many ace singers such as Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar, Sunidhi Chauhan and others admitted to having being told to praise the contestants. Rahul Vaidya is a popular face in the world of television and he too emerged from the same show.

The singer-former Bigg Boss 14 contestant had appeared on the first season of Indian Idol along with contestants such as Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana and had won hearts with his singing skills. He went on to share his take on guests being asked to praise contestants on the show.

“The show is made to make people hear the singers but it also has an entertainment quotient attached to it. If any guest judge was asked to praise a contestant and not criticise what is the big deal in that. I don’t know why people are making such a big fuss about it. I also heard there was some romantic angle going on in the show, it was done for fun. He was not told to marry the contestant at a gun point. Why such a big deal, the show has been running for the last 6-7 months, and this is done just for entertainment,” shared Rahul Vaidya, speaking to ETimes.

He also went on to say that the show will soon end and pave way for another season and things such as these shouldn’t be taken seriously. However, he also went on to say that when he was a part of Indian Idol, “the show was too pure”. “Uss time ka alag charm tha… aaj ki kahani alag hai,” the Aly singer added.

Rahul Vaidya’s fame reached newer heights after he participated in Bigg Boss 14 along with Jasmin Bhasin, Aly Goni, and others. While on the show, Rahul proposed to his longtime muse Disha Parmar and the two are all set to get married on July 16.
