Lok Sabha LoP and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI) over ‘vote chori.’ During a special press briefing at Indira Bhawan, Gandhi accused Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar for protecting “vote chors.” He alleged that “someone” has been systematically targeting millions of voters for deletion across India. Gandhi also cleared that this presser was not his much-anticipated “H bomb” and that he would drop it later.
Here are top 5 allegations levelled by Rahul Gandhi during his press conference:

  1. Gandhi began the presser by alleging that there is an undeniable proof that CEC Gyanesh Kumar is protecting vote chors. He added that election after election, “someone” has been systematically targeting millions of voters for deletion across India.
  2. The Congress MP has accused of voter deletion in Aland constituency of Karnataka, stating “someone” tried to delete 6018 voters and got caught by coincidence. This he added happened during the Karnataka Assembly elections 2023.
  3. He further accused that “someone” has set up a centralised criminal operation to steal elections. In Aland, this operation filed 6108 deletion applications impersonating voters using. Gandhi mentioned that this was done using automated filing of online EC forms, mobile numbers from outside Karnataka, targeting Congress voters.
  4. Gandhi highlighted targeted deletions in strong Congress booths, stating that the top 10 booths with maximum deletions were Congress strongholds. “Congress won 8 out of the 10 booths in 2018. This was not a coincidence, this was planned operation,” he stated.
  5. Another serious allegation levelled by Gandhi pertains to ECI stalling the investigation asked by Karnataka CID. He said, “Karnataka CID filed FIR and sent 18 letters in 18 months asking for information but ECI is not sharing. Karnataka EC requests ECI multiple times for full information, last dated March 2025, the current status shows investigation stalled by EC.”
