PV Sindhu, India’s two-time Olympic medalist in badminton, began a new chapter as she tied the knot with Venkata Datta Sai in a private ceremony on December 22 in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The marriage had been kept low-key until Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, shared a photo of the newlyweds online.
PV Sindhu Wanted Stability In Life
“For me, marriage meant stability—the kind of stability that would help me perform better,” Sindhu shared this with HT.
“Competing at the highest level is incredibly demanding, and having that sense of security and support is so important. I was super excited! This new phase of life felt so special,” she added.
Venkata Datta Sai On “Building Future Together”
Her husband Venkata Datta Sai also opined that “For Sindhu, the timing felt right. After the Olympics, she wanted to settle down, find stability, and then focus on the next chapter of her journey. We both knew this was the right step because it wasn’t just about the moment—it was about building a future together,” Datta Sai explained.
PV Sindhu In Paris Olympics
Almost a decade into the making of Indian badminton history, Sindhu’s recent performances include the 2016 Rio Olympics bronze and silver from Tokyo. The young players from different states of India find motivation through her achievements, inspiring others to perform similarly in future tournaments. In this instance, Sindhu opened up for the first time after marriage stating she was looking for much stability in life. Although Sindhu had won many titles ahead of the Paris Olympics, she was eliminated in the round of 16. In the group stages, she had won against Estonia’s Kristin Kubba and Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq, but during the knockout stages, lost to He Bing Jiao 19-21, 14-21.
Sindhu’s first title in 2024 came at the Syed Modi International, as she edged past China’s Wu Luo Yu in the final.
