Punjab CM dismisses Pakistan or Khalistan’s involvement in Ludhiana blast, says central agencies will probe incident

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday dismissed any involvement of Khalistan or Pakistan in the Ludhiana blast and announced that central agencies will probe the matter.

He also dismissed allegations of sacrilege in Kapurthala where a man was reportedly lynched to death recently.

During a press conference, Chief Minister Channi said that the Punjab Police have started an investigation against the drug mafia in the state.

He said that the blast in Ludhiana court happened when a hearing of the Majithia case was happening in the Mohali court. “I think there can be a link between them. This is being investigated,” he added.

Further talking about the blast, the Punjab CM said that there is no evidence suggesting the involvement of a Khalistani group or Pakistan in the blast.

“The person who died in the blast was the culprit. He was either carrying or assembling the bomb when it went off and killed him,” said Channi.

He confirmed that he has already spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the issue and some central leaders are expected to visit the state soon.

Shifting focus to the Kapurthala incident, where a man was killed on the suspicion of sacrilege, Charanjit Singh Channi said there is no evidence to prove sacrilege was done. The matter is being probed and the FIR will be amended accordingly.

Lashing out at Arvind Kejriwal, he said, “AAP says I am doing drama. Arvind Kejriwal gave ‘Mafinama’ in court and said sorry to Bikram Singh Majithia and ran away. He is an absconder. His 10 MLAs also left him as he could not take a stand on this drug issue.”
