Prithvi Shaw Seeks NOC, Takes Big Decision To Leave Mumbai Cricket Association: Report

Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw has officially communicated his intention to leave the state team and play for another team in domestic cricket as a ‘professional’ player to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The young batter has asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the MCA to enable the move.

“He has sought NoC from us and we will take decision on it soon,” a source in the MCA confirmed to The Indian Express.

Shaw is said to be holding talks with two to three state associations who made approaches to him during the first week of the month. The switch follows a tumultuous stint with Mumbai, both in terms of fitness and form. In October, the MCA’s senior selection panel had urged Shaw to take a particular two-week fitness course, emphasizing that he needed to shed pounds to remain in the reckoning for selection.

However, his physical condition didn’t show the expected progress. Consequently, he was left out of Mumbai’s squad for the Ranji Trophy and later dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad in December 2024. With Shaw now seeking a clean slate elsewhere, his exit would be a huge change in his domestic life particularly for one who once led India to a U19 World Cup victory and was regarded as an up-and-coming Mumbai cricket star.
