Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met the family of his close friend, the late Arun Jaitley, in a heartfelt gesture of remembrance and respect. Among those present were Rohan Jaitley, his wife Meherunissa Anand, his mother Sangeeta Jaitley, sister Sonali Jaitley Bakhshi, and daughter.

Arun Jaitley served as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Indian Government from 2014 to 2019. He was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award, posthumously in 2020 in the field of Public Affairs.

His son Rohan Jaitley has steadily built a name for himself in both the legal and sports administration fields, earning recognition and appreciation from all quarters. Currently serving as the President of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), he has been applauded for his dedicated and effective leadership.

Beyond cricket, Rohan is a respected lawyer practicing in the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court. He earned his LLB from Amity University, Noida, and later completed an LLM from Cornell University in New York. Since enrolling with the Delhi High Court Bar Council in 2012, he has built a strong legal career and was appointed as the Central Government Standing Counsel for the Delhi High Court in 2024.

In cricket administration, Rohan has made significant contributions. Under his leadership, the Arun Jaitley Stadium hosted five matches during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He also played a crucial role in launching the Delhi Premier League in 2024, aimed at promoting local cricket talent. His efforts have positioned him as a potential successor to Jay Shah as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Rohan Jaitley is not just upholding his father’s legacy, he is actively shaping his own path as a committed leader, both in the courtroom and on the cricket field.
