Pressure mounts on MVA to sack Nawab Malik as BJP threatens to expose ‘terror links’

It seems like pressure is mounting on the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to sack state minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief spokesperson Nawab Malik following his arrest in a money-laundering case.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued an ultimatum to the Maharashtra government to remove Malik from the minister post and threatened to expose links with terror convicts.
During a press briefing, BJP leader Sudhi Mungantiwar said, “If the Maharashtra government doesn’t take the resignation of its minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik, then, BJP will protest against this govt and expose it for defending people having relations with terror convicts.”
His comments have come a day after the MVA government announced it will not sack Nawab Malik over his arrest. Malik was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on February 23 in connection with a probe linked to the activities of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides.Earlier in the day, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut hit out at BJP’s demand for Malik’s removal and said it is the prerogative of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray whether to accept or reject the resignation of his cabinet colleagues.
According to latest reports, Nawab Malik has been admitted to the state-run JJ Hospital in Mumbai after he complained of stomach pain.
In the morning , Malik complained of stomach ache and was taken to the hospital around 11.30 am. He was experiencing difficulty while passing urine and admitted to the Urology department. Malik’s office earlier tweeted about his hospitalisation.
