Prabhas’ ‘The Raja Saab’ yet to sign deal with any OTT platform; Here’s the real reason

There is no doubt that Prabhas is a pan-India superstar with fans in every corner of the country. However, it is equally true that none of his films since Baahubali have scored the success they were expected. On the contrary, some of the purported blockbusters like Radhe Shyam and Adipurush proved to be disasters.

Nonetheless, the anticipatory wail for his next project ‘The Raja Saab’ is loud and clear. Audiences are agog. However, the inside responses to the project are not that enthusiastic.

Reliable sources inform that no OTT platform has come forward to offer The Raja Saab the money that the producers have demanded: reportedly a whopping Rs 90 crores.

One insider from a major OTT platform spoke on the digital fate of The Raja Saab on condition of anonymity. “The amount you’ve heard(quoted by the producers for OTT) is more or less correct. That kind of money is affordable only if the product is a guaranteed success. Prabhas, with due respect, has not been in any blockbuster since Baahubali except Kalki where his presence was minimal. So yes, the kind of money they are asking for is feasible only when The Raja Saab releases and becomes a success.”

In the meanwhile, The Raja Saab producers have two options regarding the OTT release: they can either lower their price or wait for the release. The latter option could be fatal for digital negotiation if, God forbid, the film turns out to an underperformer.
