Poor Performances From THESE High-Value IPL Stars Could Cost Them Their Place Next Season

Matches for the ongoing IPL 2025 were put on hold on May 9 because of the tensions between India and Pakistan. On May 17, the competition will resume, and the team will start off with games against RCB and KKR. Currently, making it to the playoff spots are seven teams, meaning the end stage of IPL 2025 will be full of excitement. This season, we have seen a lot of new players doing a good job for their teams, but some old stars have let down fans. Therefore, these are the players who could be released from the team if they don’t do well after the IPL resumes.

LSG Skipper Risbhabh Pant

Rishabh Pant, who was bought for the most amount of money by LSG during the 2025 auction for Rs. 27 crore, has had a pretty poor season so far. With just 128 runs in 10 games and a batting average of 12.80, his performance at the crease has really made it harder for Lucknow to qualify for the playoffs. Even his leadership has been called into question because of some doubtful choices and obvious frustration he showed on the field. If he doesn’t perform well after the IPL starts up again, LSG might decide to let him go so they can get back a big part of what they paid. The team might try to buy him back after if he becomes less expensive.

Shimron Hetmyer The RR’s Left handed Batter

Shimron Hetmyer was picked up again by the Rajasthan Royals team for a big sum of Rs. 11 crores to finish off games, but he has not done well so far. Scoring only 216 runs in 11 innings, with an average of 21.60, Hetmyer has found it hard to finish matches, often getting out or just not being able to put on the runs when the team needed it most. His strike rate of 146.93 isn’t great, so it’s hard to see why he gets picked at that high of a price when he hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations in certain matches. As there are only two matches remaining this season, Hetmyer needs to show his worth to RR, as they might let him go and get someone more reliable as a finisher for the future.
