Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders,  demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on Telangana in Parliament. TRS MPs in Rajya Sabha moved a Privilege Motion against PM Narendra Modi for his February 8 address and walked out of the House until the Chairman accepts the Privilege Motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In Hyderabad, the ministers and leaders of the ruling party held protests across the state wearing black badges and black balloons. In his reply to the President’s address in Rajya Sabha, PM Narendra Modi had hit out at the Congress party and said that Telangana was created with the doors of Parliament closed without any discussion.

BJP not against Telangana: PM

Clarifying that the BJP was not against Telangana, PM, in his speech had said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government under then PM Atal Behari Vajpayee had created three states without any problem. “The bifurcation Bill was passed without any debate and there was no consultation with the stakeholders over the bifurcation process, because of which there is continuing bitterness on both sides,” PM said.

TRS Working President and Minister KT Rama Rao demanded an apology from the Prime Minister and alleged that the BJP was spreading hatred.

“Utterly disgraceful of you Mr. Prime Minister repeatedly insulting the decades of spirited struggle & sacrifices of the people of #Telangana. I strongly condemn the absurd comments of PM & demand that he apologize to the people of Telangana,” KTR said in a tweet.
