PM Modi Meets President Zelenskyy Amid Ukraine Conflict, Reiterates India’s Support For Peace

PM Narendra Modi met Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York and held a bilateral meeting on Monday. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Summit of the Future. This is their second meeting in a month. PM Modi had visited Ukraine on 23 August.

PM Modi has shared about their meeting on his X and reiterated India’s support for early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability. “Met President @ZelenskyyUa in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Reiterated India’s support for early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability”, wrote PM Modi.

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy also posted about the meeting and wrote that they are actively developing their relations and working together to strengthen cooperation across various fields.

The leaders discussed about enhancing interaction on international platforms, particularly at the UN and G20, as well as implementing the Peace Formula and preparing for the second Peace Summit.

“This is already the third bilateral meeting this year with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi @narendramodi. We are actively developing our relations and working together to strengthen cooperation across various fields. The main focus of our conversation was on enhancing our interaction on international platforms, particularly at the UN and G20, as well as implementing the Peace Formula and preparing for the second Peace Summit. We had a substantive discussion on the available opportunities. I am grateful for the clear support of our sovereignty and territorial integrity”, shared Zelenskyy on his X.

PM Modi had visited Ukraine on the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last month, marking it as a first ever visit by any Indian Prime Minister. In their first meeting the two leaders had discussed the whole gamut of bilateral ties and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

PM Narendra Modi was on three-day visit to the US. He held several bilateral meeting with other leaders also during his visit. He addressed the 79th U.N. General Assembly session on Monday.
