The government has constituted department-related Parliamentary standing committees for 2024-2025 on Thursday after the Lok Sabha Elections. This will get in effect from in 26 September 2024.

Each committee constitutes members from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Out of the 24-department related standing committees, BJP has got to chair 11 committees, with its allies leading four panels. Congress has been given chairmanship of four committees, DMK and TMC have got 2 each and Samajwadi Party has got one committee to chair.

A parliamentary standing committee is a permanent committee of Members of Parliament that analyzes and provides opinions on specific areas of government. They are established according to the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business or an Act of Parliament.

Each of these committees consist of 31 members, 21 from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha
