Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat won a bronze medal in the 57kg category at the Paris Olympics 2024 by defeating Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz with a score of 13-5. This is Aman Sehrawat’s first time competing in the Olympics. The 21-year-old had previously lost to Japan’s Rei Higuchi in the semi-finals.

India has won five bronze medals and one silver, with javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra earning the silver on Thursday.

Aman Sehrawat’s bronze medal ensures that India has won a wrestling medal at every Olympic Games since 2008.

Aman reached the semi-finals with a dominant 12-0 victory over Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakanov, giving him a chance to compete for a medal.

The Japanese wrestler quickly defeated him, ending the match swiftly. Higuchi advanced to the gold medal match with a 10-0 victory by technical superiority.

Earlier on Thursday, Aman advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating former European champion Vladimir Egorov with a 10-0 technical superiority win in the first round.

India’s Performance At Paris 2024 Olympics

India has won five bronze medals at the Paris Olympics 2024. These include Manu Bhaker for Women’s 10m air pistol shooting, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for Mixed team 10m air pistol shooting, Swapnil Kusale for Men’s 50m rifle 3 positions shooting, and the Men’s Hockey team.

The Indian men’s hockey team secured a 2-1 victory over Spain in the bronze medal match.

India has also won a silver medal in Men’s javelin throw, thanks to Neeraj Chopra. Although Chopra threw 1.87 meters more than his Tokyo performance, he fell short of gold. The gold medal went to Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan, who set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters.

A total of 117 Indian athletes, including five reserves, are competing for medals and glory at the Paris 2024 Olympics, which began on July 26 and will end on August 11.
