‘Panchayat’ To Be Celebrated At WAVES Summit 2025 For Championing Grassroot Storytelling

The much loved rural comedy web series Panchayat is set to make history at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 which is scheduled from May 1 to May 4 at the Jio World Centre, Mumbai. On Day 3 of the summit, the cast and creators will gather for a session titled “Making of Panchayat: Grassroot Storytelling,” which will celebrate the show’s role in redefining regional storytelling in the digital space.

Its cast members Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, and Faisal Malik will join the session to discuss how the show’s rural setting, grounded humour, and characters that resonated with the audiences across India. Set in the fictional village of Phulera, Panchayat is based on an engineering graduate Abhishek Tripathi unfamiliar with the village culture is working in a rural area after being appointed as Gram Panchayat secretary.

The series portrays rural life, politics, and community relationships with three successful seasons. It is written by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and was first premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 3 April 2020.

Waves Summit 2025

WAVES 2025 summit aims to establish India as a global entertainment hub. Technological advancements that will shape the future of content creation will also be in the spotlight during the summit also bringing together film legends, digital creators, and industry leaders. The summit will also have big stars like Amitabh Bachchan Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Shah Rukh Khan and others talking about the future of movies and shows.
