Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam Terror attack, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and the Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Maryam Nawaz, made some bold and provocative statements. She said that by the grace of Allah, no one would dare to attack the country as it has nuclear power.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif spoke on the tensions brewing between India and Pakistan for the 1st time while addressing a ceremony. She stated, “There is tension on the border between India and Pakistan, and a threat is looming. But, no need to worry because Allah has given so much strength to Pakistan, Pakistanis, and the Pakistani army that they can face every attack of the enemy.”

She further added, “Whatever political view we have, if we are one community, if we are Pakistanis, then at this time we must stand united with the army so that they can fight effectively. I would also like to tell you that today, if any enemy of Pakistan thinks ten times before attacking Pakistan, the reason is – Pakistan has an atom bomb.” During her address, she even gave credit to her father, Nawaz Sharif, for turning Pakistan into a nuclear power.

Her statements come at a time when Pakistan’s Information Minister Attatullah Tarar on Wednesday claimed to have ‘credible evidence’ of a strike by India within the next 24-36 hours. In a social media post, Tarar said, “Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends carrying out military action against Pakistan in the next 24-36 hours on the pretext of baseless and concocted allegations of involvement in the Pahalgam incident.”
