Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack against the Congress and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as he hit the campaign trail in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing an event in Atrauli, he contrasted the measures taken against terrorism by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his predecessor.
“When Congress governed for 10 years, Pakistan invaded our country and beheaded our jawans. Then PM Manmohan Singh didn’t do anything. But after Uri and Pulwama attacks, PM Modi eliminated terrorists in Pakistan with a surgical strike in 10 days,” Shah asserted. The senior BJP leader is also addressing public meetings in Badaun and Sahaswan, and will hold a door-to-door campaign in Badaun. This is the first time that the Home Minister is campaigning for the third phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.
“UP became a mafia-center under ‘bua-bhateeja‘ rule of SP, BSP. Now mafias are present at three locations only, either out of UP, in Budaun jail, or as an SP candidate…Has anyone seen Mulayam Yadav’s sidekicks Azam Khan… Mukhtar Ansari in last 3 years?” Shah asked in Sahaswan.
“Akhilesh Yadav will play a game of red light-green light. He’ll show a red light to development and green light to mafias,” he alleged.
With mere days left before the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, top BJP leaders have intensified their attack against the Opposition, even as they highlighted initiatives undertaken by their own administration. “By taking the COVID-19vaccine jab, people have given a tight slap to those who questioned the vaccines…called them ‘Modi Vaccine’, ‘BJP vaccine’. Likewise, even in the UP election, you need to give such people a ‘sharp dose’ by voting for Lotus,” remarked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during an address in Bulandshahr.
Speaking about the Samajwadi Party’s tie-up with the Rashtriya Lok Dal, he also said that the SP had nothing new to offer. “They (SP chief Akhilesh Yadav) are once again coming up with a new envelope. Only the envelope is new, the material is still the same old, rotten…of mafias, riots…After 10 March, Inki Puri Garmi Shaant Karwa Dengey,” he added.
Elections for the 403 Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting February 10. The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
