Oscars 2022 Nominations: Suriya’s Jai Bhim fails to earn a spot, Don’t Look Up, Belfast lead at 94th Academy Awards

Its finally here! The list of nominations for the most pristine awards of the year, Oscars, was released today, February 08, 2022. Cine buffs were looking forward to the live stream since the start of the month and hoping to see their favourite film of the year nominated for 94th Academy Awards. For the unversed, 276 movies titles competed to get shortlisted for the Best Film category at the upcoming award, out of which, only 10 of them got nominated. 

This year, the nomations across all 23 categories were announced by Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan. Last year, the presentation was given by Nick Jonas and Bollywood-cum-Hollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. We have listed the entire list of nominations below for our readers.

India’s Jai Bhim, a Tamil courtroom drama starring Suriya, was one of the anticipated nominations to the Oscars 2022. Sadly, it did not earn a spot in the nominations. The film released on November 02, 2021 and was a blockbuster back home. The T. J. Gnanavel directorial opened to critical as well as commercial acclaim and fans of the film were confident that it will make it to Oscars 2022.

Jai Bhim’s anticipated Oscar nomination had been trending since morning today. Other films contention included Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryll Steep starrer Don’t Look Up on Netflix and biopic drama House of Gucci.

Oscars are set to be presented on March 27, 2022. This year’s theme is Movie Lovers Unite.
