Omar Abdullah To Hold Historic Cabinet Meeting In Pahalgam Amidst Efforts To Revive Tourism

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to chair a cabinet meeting in Pahalgam today. This meeting marks a first for the current government, to be held away from the traditional venues of the Civil Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s residences in Jammu and Srinagar.

The decision to convene the cabinet in Pahalgam comes in the wake of the tragic Baisaran terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, including 25 tourists and a local resident. The incident has left a profound impact on the Kashmir, leading to a significant decline in tourist arrivals.

At 1 PM, Abdullah will lead discussions with his ministers, sending a powerful message against terrorism and violence. Following this, he is scheduled to meet with hoteliers and travel agents from across India at 4 PM. This engagement aims to galvanize efforts for the revival of tourism in the Valley, which has been severely affected by recent terrorist attacks.

The Chief Minister’s initiative highlights the government’s commitment to restoring confidence among tourist and ensuring that Pahalgam remains a safe and welcoming destination for tourists.

As stakeholders gather in Pahalgam, hopes are high for a renewed sense of optimism and collaboration to bring back the vibrancy of tourism that is vital for the local economy.
