‘Not true, happy to arrange Arvind Kejriwal’s lunch too’: Amarinder Singh on AAP’s press meet charge

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Monday strongly refuted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s allegation that he refused permission for his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal’s press conference in Chandigarh.

The AAP’s press conference was scheduled to be held at Punjab Bhavan at 1 pm.

Terming AAP’s allegation as a “drama”, Punjab Chief Minister said that he was even ready to arrange lunch for Kejriwal if he wants.

“Totally not true. We let Arvind Kejriwal address a rally here just a few days back so why should we stop him now from having a press conference. If he wants I’d be happy to arrange his lunch too. AAP just wants to do drama even if it means lying,” said Singh on AAP’s charge.

What AAP alleged?

The AAP has alleged that Punjab CM’s office refused to give permission for Kejriwal’s press conference. “We will hold the press conferences no matter how hard Captain tries,” the party said.

“@capt_amarinder’s fear of Kejriwal has reached a point where his office has denied us permission to hold press conference at the pre-decided venue. Nevertheless, @ArvindKejriwal will make a mega announcement tomo in Chandigarh which will send 440volt current to Capt & his party,” AAP’s Punjab unit chief Raghav Chadha said in a tweet.

He also said that Kejriwal will make a “mega announcement” in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Kejriwal-Amarinder clash in run-up to 2022 Punjab polls

Punjab is slated to go to the polls in February or March next year. The AAP, which is seeking to oust the Congress-led government in the state from power, has already announced that its CM face will be a Sikh candidate.

On Monday, Kejriwal announced that Punjab will get 200 units of free electricity if AAP forms the government in the state.

“…In Delhi we provide 200 units of free electricity to every family. The women are very happy. Women in Punjab are also very unhappy with inflation. The AAP government will also provide free electricity in Punjab. See you tomorrow in Chandigarh,” Kejriwal tweeted in Punjabi.

Last week, the AAP chief had visited Amritsar and said that people are fed up with the Amarinder Singh government.
