It came as a major embarrassment for Pakistan’s foreign minister when he made a false claim about the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the Senate, citing The Daily Telegraph report. A Pakistani newspaper fact-checked it that debunked his claims as false.

‘Pakistan Air Force is the undisputed king of the skies’

Pakistan’s foreign minister Ishaq Dar claimed in the Senate that UK-Based, The Daily Telegraph, mentioned “Pakistan Air Force is the undisputed king of the skies.” The other members applauded on his statement. Dar’s statement went viral on social media. Soon, Dar’s claims were fact-checked and debunked as fake news.

The Dawn: No such report was ever published

The Pakistani newspaper, The Dawn, checked it through its iVerify and said that no such report was ever published by the Daily Telegraph.

‘A blatant attempt to save face’

BJP’s IT Cell head Amit Malviya hit out at Pakistan’s foreign minister and posted on X, “Pakistan’s propaganda is quickly falling apart, exposing a web of lies and desperation. In a blatant attempt to save face, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar misled the country’s Senate by claiming that The Telegraph had declared the Pakistan Air Force as the “Undisputed King of the Skies.” The claim was so outrageous that even Dawn, Pakistan’s leading newspaper, felt compelled to fact-check and debunk it.

Ironically, the fake headline circulated by The Telegraph was eagerly amplified by some Indian outlets like The Hindu. But now, with Dawn itself calling out the falsehood, Pakistan’s credibility lies in tatters—along with that of its cheerleaders in India.”

PIB fact check unit debunks claim

The fact check unit of PIB stated,  “An image circulating on social media claims to show the front page of UK-based newspaper The Daily Telegraph, featuring a headline that reads: “Pakistan Air Force: The undisputed king of the skies” dated 10th May 2025-this is fake.”
