Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday informed the Lok Sabha that there is no proposal for privatization of railway stations.

The ownership of the railway land/air space shall remain with Railways, he added.

Vaishnaw said this in a written reply to the question, which asked, whether the Government is planning to privatise and railway stations or trains or any of the assets belonging to the Railways.

The railway minister further informed the Lok Sabha that “no passenger train services over Indian Railways is being operated by private players.”
