Terming it misinformation, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday lashed out at Congress state chief Kuldeep Singh Rathore for alleging that China is building infrastructure along the state border.

“There is no need of circulating this kind of misinformation,” ANI quoted Thakur as saying. The chief minister further said that he went to the border area and “will present the situation infront of the Central government.”

However, the visit of the Himachal Pradesh chief minister to the border areas of the Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts resulted in a political battle with the opposition Congress questioning the sudden move of the chief minister to visit the areas along the India-China border.

China is building concrete houses and roads along the state border and the state government has ignored the situation, Rathore had alleged. Refuting the Congress allegations, the Himachal CM said such statements on strategically important issues are unfortunate.

During his visit to the border areas, CM Jai Ram Thakur had also interacted with officers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Dogra Scouts and the 15th Bihar Regiment of the Army in the Lahaul-Spiti district and appreciated the role of security forces personnel in protecting the country’s frontiers.

It was due to their commitment and efficient duty despite difficult topography and harsh climatic conditions that people are safe and able to live without any fear, he said.

While talking about the vaccination drive in the area, the chief minister said Spiti valley has achieved 100 per cent vaccination against COVID-19 among the 45-plus population. He said Komik, the highest village connected with a motorable road in the world, has achieved the target of fully vaccinating people above 18 years of age.
