No Congress MLA will join Amarinder Singh’s party, he should have joined SAD: Navjot Sidhu’s wife Navjot Kaur

Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife and former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Tuesday expressed confidence that Congress MLA would join Captain Amarinder Singh’s camp, except the ones who might have got favour from the former chief minister.

Taking aim at Singh, Navjot Kaur said the former Congress leader should have joined Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) as that would have put an end to all speculations.

She further said that leaders are attached to the party and those associated with the grand old party won’t join Singh’s to be launched political outfit.

“Don’t think any Congress MLA will leave and join Singh’s to be launched outfit. If he gave any favour to anyone, then those people may go,” Navjot Kaur said.

“But people get attached to the party, one man alone doesn’t form a party. Those attached to Congress won’t go,” Sidhu’s wife said when asked to comment on Singh’s plans to launch a new political party.

She further lambasted the former Punjab chief minister, saying that despite getting all the freedom from the Congress, Singh did not entrust any worker with some power.

“He was given all freedom by the party, but he didn’t give power to any worker, never openly met any minister or MLA. Who’ll trust him?,” she asked.

It would’ve been best for him had he joined SAD. It would have laid people’s suspicion to rest and he would have also been able to win a few seats, Navjot Kaur said.

The former Punjab chief minister may announce the launch of his own political party on October 27.

Notably, Singh’s media advisor, Raveen Thukral has sent an invitation to the media for Amarinder Singh’s press briefing in Chandigarh on October 27.

Singh is expected to form a pre-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as he recently expressed hope of a seat-sharing arrangement with the saffron party for Punjab Assembly elections 2022, if the farmers’ issues are resolved in their interest.

For long Sidhu and Singh were fighting for supremacy within the Punjab Congress, with the former having that last laugh as party high command fully backed him and appointed him as the Punjab Congress chief despite Captain’s reservations.

Later, Amarinder Singh submitted his resignation on September 18 and targeted Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, saying that Gandhi siblings were “quite inexperienced” and “their advisors were clearly misguiding them”.
