NHAI Set To Begin Four-Lane Expansion On THIS Key UP Highways By….., Know In Details

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed a plan and will begin work on expanding multiple main routes by transforming them from two lane to four lane highway.

The Highway expansion initiative features the 112.8 km Kabrai-Kanpur route as well as the road going to Nepal border via Barabanki-Bahraich as well as the southern part of Bareilly bypass is also set to start along with these two projects. 

The expansion projects will start their execution around November- December. Five highway projects have received authorization from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways within this expansion initiative. The Lucknow region of NHAI is working on developing a Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for all these five initiatives.

The Regional Officer of NHAI,  S.K. Sharma stated that DPRs will be completed soon and the execution will begin later this year and the development cost is expected to amount to ₹10,199 crore for these five projects.  

The government aims to expand NH-86 Kabrai-Kanpur road spanning 112.8 km into a four-lane road. Theme Engineering Services has planned to create the DPR for the project expansion and the total estimated cost is ₹3,900 crore and at the same time, the work of making a four to six lane bypass in the Dhakshini part of Bareilly city is also to be completed.

The development project will commence from Dhantia Village at Jhumka Chauraha near NH-530-B and will conclude in Invertis University near NH-30. The total length of this project is 29.92 km and is expected to cost  Rs 1999.11 crore. The first package covers 35.7 km of distance at a total cost of Rs 1550 crore while package three involves 58.4 km at a price of Rs 2050 crore. 

According to the project, the road beginning from Barabanki to the Nepal border is also to be made four lane. The execution plan of the roads has been distributed in two packages and bridge work on river Ghaghra in one package. Work of package one from Barabanki to Jarwal on NH-927 and work of package three from Jarwal to Bahraich on NH-927 has been approved.

The first package covers 35.7 km of distance at a total cost of Rs 1550 crore while package three involves 58.4 km at a price of Rs 2050 crore. Package two includes construction of a four lane bridge with approach road and ROB is to be built on the Ghaghra river on the same route and it consists of 7.3 kilometers and the projected expenditure amounts to Rs 750 crore. 

These upcoming projects aim on improving connectivity as well as cutting down travel time and offering better road safety. These highway expansion efforts will support the development of the region and create better transportation connections throughout Uttar Pradesh and extending into adjacent areas.
