Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and United States President Donald Trump are scheduled to meet at the White House on Monday. PM Netanyahu will depart tomorrow for Washington following the invitation from US President Donald Trump, stated Netanyahu’s office. The leaders are expected to discuss various issues, including the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Israel-Turkey relations. Netanyahu and Trump are further expected to address the recently declared US tariffs, which include a 17 per cent increase on Israeli goods imported into the United States.

What Will The Leaders Discuss?

Among other issues that the leaders are expected to discuss are the Iranian threat and the battle against the International Criminal Court.

Netanyahu’s office wrote on X, “PM Netanyahu will depart tomorrow for Washington following the invitation from US President Donald Trump. The two will discuss the tariff issue, the efforts to return our hostages, Israel-Turkey relations, the Iranian threat and the battle against the International Criminal Court.”

PM Netanyahu has extended his thanks to Trump for inviting him to the White House. He is the first world leader that Trump will meet after imposing global tariffs.

“The PM appreciates the personal and warm ties with President Trump and thanks him for the invitation to be the first leader to meet with him following the imposition of global tariffs, just as he was the first leader to meet with him following his entering the White House,” added Netanyahu’s office.

Israel Ends Import Duties On US Goods

Earlier, Israel, one of the significant allies of the US and largest trading partners, cancelled all its remaining tariffs on imports from the United States, ahead of Trump’s tariff imposition. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat, at the directive of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the cancellation all of the customs duties, tariffs that have been levied until now on products from the United States.

“The reduction in customs duties will, in effect, expand the US-Israel trade agreement and strengthen bilateral strategic relations,” the Prime Minister’s Office, Finance Ministry and Economy and Industry Ministry said in a joint statement.

Notably, Trump announced a widespread imposition of tariffs on countries worldwide on April 2.
