The fairytale now threatens to turn into a nightmare. Is Netflix planning to take down Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale? Those in the know reveal that the documentary’s ongoing troubles are driving Netflix into a corner, to reconsider if the legal threats are worth it.

The latest legal trouble for Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale comes from the makers of the 2005 Tamil film Chandramukhi. The film’s producers allege that the footage from Chandramukhi was used in the documentary without their consent. They claim ₹5 crore in damages and a permanent injunction against the use of the clips.

The Madras High Court has issued notices to Netflix and the production company in response to the lawsuit. Earlier, actor Dhanush had also filed a legal notice against Nayanthara and the production company for using footage from his film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. it remains to be seen if Netflix will stand by Nayanthara’s self-congratulatory docu-film or pull down the troublesome product.
