Mumbai drug bust: Sameer Wankhede reacts to NCP’s ‘extortion’ charge, warns of legal action against Nawab Malik

Hours after Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik accused Sameer Wankhede of ‘extortion’, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal chief has warned of legal actions against the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader.

His reaction came after Malik alleged that Wankhede is filing bogus cases against people and said that the NCB zonal chief will lose his job within a year.

“They have a puppet-Wankhede. He raises bogus cases against people. I challenge that Wankhede that he’ll lose his job within a year. You came to jail us, people of this nation won’t be silent without seeing you behind bars. We have evidence of bogus cases,” said the Maharastra minister.

Malik also released some purported photos of Yasmeen Wankhede, sister of Sameer Wankhede. “Wankhede has to answer as to what was he in Dubai, why his family members were present in the Maldives when the entire industry was there,” he said.

The allegation comes as the agency earlier today summoned Bollywood actor Ananya Panday in connection with the drugs case in which Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has been arrested.

Ananya’s name is reportedly featured in some of the WhatApp chats the NCB has accessed.

Wankhede rejects Malik’s charge

Dismissing the allegations levelled against him Wankhede said he will take legal action against Nawab Malik as the NCP leader is making false statements.

“I never visited Dubai I am just doing my duty. The agenda is to make Maharashtra and Goa drug-free. He is targeting my mother, sister,” the NCB zonal director told

Meanwhile, the NCB has released a press note with the factual position on certain information on social media regarding Sameer Wankhede. “Certain incorrect information has been shared in social media regarding Sameer Wankhede, IRS, Zonal Director, Mumbai Zonal Unit of NCB,” read the press note.
