Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed party’s Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla as Permanent Invitee of Congress Working Committee. Shukla’s appointment took effect on Saturday. He thanked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and KC Venugopal for giving him an opportunity to serve the party as CWC Member.

Shukla wrote on X, “Many thanks to Congress president @kharge ji, Sonia gandhi ji, our leader @RahulGandh ji , @priyankagandhi ji and @kcvenugopalmp ji for giving me this opportunity to serve the party as cwc member. @INCInd.”

The statement from AICC general secretary in-charge organisation, KC Venugopal read as: “Hon’ble Congress President has appointed Shri Rajeev Shukla as Permanent Invitee of Congress Working Committee, with immediate effect.”

Shukla has previously served as Union Minister of State in the late former PM Manmohan Singh’s cabinet, Congress party spokesperson, Congress Working Committee member, and IPL Chairman. He has been serving as a Rajya Sabha MP since 2022.

He was recently seen speaking on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Shukla opposed the bill, stating that it clearly violated the Constitution. He added that the Waqf bill could be challenged in the court.

Shukla said, “There is a clear violation of the Constitution here which can be challenged in the court.”

Congress MP also spoke on United States tariff issues and labelled them as “extremely detrimental” to India’s trade. He urged an immediate discussion between the Indian government and the US to address the tariff issue.
