Mother Dairy Hikes Milk Prices By Up To Rs 2/L Starting Today Across Delhi/NCR; Consumers Express Concerns

In a move that may impact households, particularly the middle class, Mother Dairy has announced a hike in the price of liquid milk by up to Rs 2 per litre. The company said that the new prices will be effective from Wednesday, April 30, 2025, across markets in the national capital, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. The company’s Spokesperson cited increased procurement costs as the key reason behind the surge in liquid milk prices.

ANI quoted the Mother Dairy spokesperson as saying, “Mother Dairy is constrained to revise the consumer price of its liquid milk by up to Rs. 2 per litre, effective from April 30, 2025. This price revision has been necessitated to address the significant increase in procurement costs, which have gone up by Rs. 4 – 5 per litre over the past few months. The surge in procurement prices is primarily driven by early onset of summer and heatwave conditions.”

Details Of Hiked Prices Across Different Milk Categories

Bulk vended milk (toned): Increased to Rs 56/L from Rs 54/L

Full cream milk: Increased to Rs 69/L from Rs 68/L

Cow milk: Increased To Rs 57/L from Rs 56/L

Double-toned milk: Rs 51/L against Rs 49 earlier

Consumers Express Concerns

Reacting to the incident, a regular consumer of Mother Dairy Milk said, “This will affect the common man somewhere, but Rs 2 or rupee 1 is not a significant rate increase.”

Meanwhile, another Consumer said, “The rate might not affect the rich people, but it is going to affect the common man. I request that the government not allow Mother Dairy to increase the rates.”
