Mitchell Marsh has shown his support for  Rishabh Pant, highlighting his faith that the star batter will pick up strongly and perform in Lucknow Super Giants’ last two matches of IPL 2025. On Monday, May 19, LSG were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention after a six-wicket loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Rishabh Pant Struggles With Poor Form

Rishabh Pant has been under intense pressure due to his poor form, he is also the most expensive player in IPL history, as LSG paid a whopping INR 27 crore for him.. His returns have been disappointing scoring a merely 135 runs in 12 matches at 12.27 with a strike rate of 100. His best score this season has been 63.

LSG TO Face GT On May 22

In their previous outing, LSG scored a fighting 205/7 after being asked to bat, courtesy of good efforts from Marsh (65) and Aiden Markram (61). But Sunrisers chased the target comfortably, getting there with 10 balls to spare. The Super Giants will then face Gujarat Titans on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in their next match where nothing but pride will be at stake.

Mitchell Marsh Backs Rishabh Pant

“He’d be the first one to say that he hasn’t had the season that he would have liked. But I know for myself personally that that’s the way cricket goes sometimes and we know that he’s a fantastic player, highly skilled and highly talented. So he will be back, hopefully, in the last two games,” Marsh said in the post-match press conference.

Marsh Praises SRH’s Game-Play

“They bowled very well to their plans throughout the middle order. And maybe we were probably 15 short on what was a really good wicket. And, you know, the margins are very small in this game. But as we know, you can have 180 or 280 on the board and you never really feel safe against the Sunrisers. So they’re a dangerous side and they batted beautifully,” Marsh added.
