Rani Mukerji will soon return as SP Shivani Shivaji Roy in the third instalment of Mardaani and the makers have officially unveiled her first look from the project. Its release date has also been announced and it is a little far as Mardaani 3 will arrive in theatres in 2026.

Mardaani 3 will hit the theatres on February 27, 2026. Announcing the release date, the makers wrote in the caption, “The countdown begins for #Mardaani3! On Holi, good will fight evil as Shivani Shivaji Roy returns to the big screen on February 27, 2026.”

Mardaani also starred Jisshu Sengupta, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Saanand Verma in pivotal roles. Meanwhile, Mardaani 2 introduced Vishal Jethwa as the antagonist.

In an earlier interview with Variety, Rani Mukerji talked about Mardaani 3 and said, “When we set out to make Mardaani 3, we were hoping that we find a script that would take the experience of watching a Mardaani franchise film higher.”

She added, “I am really excited about what we have at hand and I’m only hoping that the audience too feels the same after watching Mardaani 3 in theatres.” She described Mardaani 3 as ‘dark, deadly and brutal’. The film series is also one of the most popular and successful female-led action franchise.

Mardaani 3 is directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of YRF. Its script is written by Aayush Gupta, who is known for his work in the Netflix series ‘The Railway Men’.

On the work front, she was last seen in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, along with Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta, and Jim Sarbh.
