In a major drug haul in Punjab, the Special Task Force (STF) of the state police has seized 34 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 200 cr in the international market. The STF has also arrested three smugglers in Ludhiana.

The seized drugs include 28 kg of heroin and 6 kg of ice drugs. The heroin costs Rs 140 cr while ice drugs cost Rs 6 cr. STF officials said the accused were supplying drugs to various parts of the country and had links to international drug smugglers.

The arrested accused are identified as 30-year-old Manit Singh Manna (New Bgahwan Nagar in Jodhewal), 20-year-old Vishal (Batala, Gurdaspur) and 40-year-old Angrej Singh (Patiala). The other accused who are still at large are identified as Rajan Sharma, Happy Randhawa Harminder Singh, Sunny and Tanveeer Bedi, according to a report in Times of India.

“Following a tip-off, the STF arrested Manjit Manna near Sahnewal on Monday evening when he was travelling in his SUV. Upon his search, the STF recovered 18 kg of heroin and 6 kg of ice drugs concealed in the secret compartment of the vehicle’s boot space. During questioning, Manjit gave information about his accomplices,” the report quoted RK Jaiswal, IG STF.

On the basis of information given by Manjit, STF conducted a raid and arrested Vishal and Angrej Singh from Behram toll plaza at Phagwara-Banga Road on November 3. Around 10 kg of heroin was recovered from their possession.

Vishal and Angrej had concealed drugs in the boot space and doors of their vehicle. The drugs were procured by the accused from Jammu and Kashmir and were to be supplied in Punjab and other states.

Police claimed that the accused have told them about their links with international drug smugglers. Angrej Singh was working at Car Parking of Books in Ludhiana.
