Sunil Tiwari, the then advisor of former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi, is in trouble. The police here have registered a case of alleged rape against Tiwari.

The police said Tiwari’s maid has accused him of raping her in March last year.

“The case was registered at Argora police station on August 16 on the complaint of Tiwari’s maid, who accused him of raping her in March 2020,” the police said.

The woman hails from Khunti. She has alleged in the FIR that Tiwari used to forcefully establish relations with her and had even beaten her when she had objected.

The victim alleged the former CM’s advisor had even threatened to kill her if she revealed anything about the incident to anyone.

The victim had worked at Tiwari’s residence for about a year and had returned to her native place during the Covid pandemic. When she narrated her ordeal before her family members, they encouraged her to file a police complaint, Live Hindustan reported.

Bhaskar.com reported Tiwari as saying that he is being framed in the case and that all the allegations against him are false.

Marandi was the first chief minister of Jharkhand after the state was carved out of Bihar. He was on the position between 2000 and 2003.
