A new leak has exposed mass infiltration of some of the world’s biggest companies, consulates and government agencies by members of the Chinese Communist Party.

According to a report by The Mail, members of the CCP are working in British consulates, universities and for some of the UK’s leading companies.

The leaked database of 1.95 million registered party members indicates how Beijing’s influence has now reached every nook and corner of Britain including major defence firms, banks and pharmaceutical giants.

CCP members secured jobs in British consulates

The leak took place in April 2016 when the data was extracted from a Shanghai server by Chinese dissidents and whistleblowers.

Later, the data was leaked to the newly-formed Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China – a group comprised of 150 legislators around the world – in September this year. It was also shared with four media organisations, The Australian, The Sunday Mail in the UK, De Standaard in Belgium and a Swedish editor, reported Sky News.

Another shocking revelation from the leak is that many members of the CCP have reportedly secured jobs in British consulates.

Data analysis also revealed that more than 600 party members were working at 19 branches of British banks like HSBC and Standard Chartered in 2016.

Similarly, pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and AstraZeneca, currently involved in the development of coronavirus vaccines, had employed 123 CCP loyalists.

CCP members worked in top banks, defence firms & pharma companies

Defence firms like Airbus, Boeing and Rolls-Royce also employed hundreds of party members, the leak revealed.

Recently, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed China for stealing research and intellectual property from Chinese students studying in American colleges.

Addressing scholars at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta, Pompeo called China’s Communist Party the “central threat of our time”.

Pompeo’s statement comes after US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross accused China for not complying with the international trade rules and termed Beijing as a principal military and economic threat in the Asian region.
