Kettleborough vs Dharmasena: Jaffer shares hilarious meme in reference to India’s chances in WTC final

Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer was known for his elegant display of batting and being a domestic legend. Despite having played some memorable knocks for Team India in whites, Jaffer didn’t quite have a prolonged career at the highest level but remains relevant for his work on the domestic front.

Since his retirement, Jaffer has been a revelation of sorts, especially by the social media addicts. The former player often leaves fans rolling on the floor with his hilarious takes, posts, or replies on Twitter. Similar was the case with his latest post, where he was taken trolling to another level.

Jaffer’s latest tweet is his own version of the famous Drake meme. He posted a customized meme, where he is disapproving of umpire Richard Kettleborough whereas giving his nod to Sri Lankan umpire, Kumar Dharmasena.

For the unversed, the context of the meme is that whenever the English umpire, Kettleborough has officiated as an umpire, since 2014, in an ICC eliminator, or knockout encounter, for Team India, they have been defeated. For instance, during the 2014 T20 World Cup, 2015 ODI World Cup semi-final, 2017 Champions Trophy final versus Pakistan and the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

On the other hand, Dharmasena was the one who controversially gave extra runs to England during their mouth-watering run-chase against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup at Lord’s. Thus, the match went into the Super Over where Eoin Morgan & Co. achieved their first major 50-over ICC title. Thus, Jaffer is seen approving him in his latest tweet.

Talking about the WTC final, India will take on New Zealand at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on June 18. The date has proved to be unlucky for India since 2015, where they have lost an ODI and T20I to Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, respectively, before also losing the 2017 Champions Trophy final to Pakistan.

Kohli-led India will leave for the United Kingdom in a few days from now, where they will also play five Tests versus England in August-September.
