Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing the historical significance of C. Sankaran Nair, a lawyer who challenged the British after the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in his upcoming film “Kesari: Chapter 2.”
Akshay expressed gratitude to PM Modi and made a tweet on X: “Thank you Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for remembering the great Chettur Sankaran Nair ji and his contribution to our freedom struggle. It is so important that we as a nation, especially the younger generation values the great women and men who fought valiantly to ensure that we breathe in a free country! Our Kesari Chapter 2, is a humble effort to remind everyone that we must never take our freedom for granted!”
For the unversed, the full name of C Sankaran Nair is ‘Chettur Sankaran Nair‘, who played a pivotal role for India in the pre-independence era. He reportedly began his career as a lawyer in 1880 in the High Court of Madras. Later, he was appointed as a member of the committee for an enquiry into the district of Malabar. He served as the Advocate-General to the Government and an Acting Judge till 1908 and became a permanent Judge in the High Court of Madras till 1915.
Kesari Chapter 2 also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in the lead roles. Ananya will also be seen as a lawyer, whereas, R Madhavan will lock horns with Akshay in this film.
