Amit Shah, the Union Minister for Home Affairs, asserted that violence had decreased by 80 percent in Kashmir, the Northeast, and the entire nation’s Maoist-affected areas.
Shah asserted, “Today, I can say that there has been an 80 percent reduction in violence from terrorism in Kashmir, insurgency in the Northeast and ultra-left movement under the Modi government,”
The Lokmat Marathi daily’s golden anniversary and the centennial of Jawaharlal Darda’s birth were being celebrated in Nagpur when Shah gave his speech.
At a gathering held here, the home minister also highlighted the benefits of the centre’s repeal of Article 370 and spoke about the accomplishments of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led administration, and how “a peaceful atmosphere prevailed in the country, including in the border state.”
Additionally, he asserted that over 1.8 billion tourists visited India in a single year following the repeal of Article 370, which he described as a “major deal” and said this suggests that a change in policy has been made.
When discussing the measures made by the central government, Shah claimed that whereas Kashmir had received investments totaling Rs 12,000 crore in 70 years, under the Modi administration it has received Rs 12,000 crore in just three.
Every family in Kashmir now has access to power and running water, which is a significant improvement for the border state, Shah said.
The home minister claimed that under Prime Minister Modi, India is becoming “atmanirbhar” in the development of weapons for defence, with a 70 percent level of self-sufficiency.
He claimed that the government had been making decisions that would benefit the populace, and that in two to three years, India will be the world’s top producer of hydrogen. In four to five years, India will also be well ahead in the realm of satellites. According to him, Indian start-ups are also demonstrating their mettle to the world.
