The buzz around Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, David Dhawan’s 2004 comedy has been has been making the rounds in industry circles. The original was a box office hit and still remains a cult favorite, starring Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra. Earlier this week, Pinkvilla reported that there was a sequel in the works, tentatively titled Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2, with Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan in consideration for the top roles. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who produced the original, was said to be financing the project. A report noted, however, that an official confirmation was still outstanding.

Contrary to such reports, an industry source has denied Kartik being in talks for the sequel, a source to HT told, “The rumours of Kartik being in talks for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 are untrue. The actor is currently busy with filming his current project and has a few more in the pipeline that he wants to wrap up first,”
Kartik has been working in the North East since April and May, filming for an untitled movie under the direction of Anurag Basu and co-starring Sreeleela. Various behind-the-scenes peeks at the sets have appeared on social media, with the actor being spotted in character.

Further clarifying why Kartik may not be drawn to a project like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2, the source says the actor is currently prioritising solo-led films. “Kartik is currently focused on solo-led films because he believes that’s the path best aligned with his growth and the space he’s carved for himself. It’s not about avoiding ensemble or multi-hero projects—it’s about the confidence he has in his vision. He’s among the most intelligent actors today, and his choices reflect that,” the source added.

Though viewers might be interested in watching Kartik share screen space with Varun Dhawan in a light-hearted entertainer, at present, it seems that the actor is avoiding multi-starrer projects in lieu of those that feature him in a solo avatar.
